FAFSA Information

If we have not been able to meet, my name is Cameron Stokes and I am the College Adviser here at Martinsville High. With October beginning, I wanted to let you know that the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) has opened! What this application does it allows graduating students to receive multiple types of financial aid from post-secondary institutions (2-year schools, 4-year schools, and trade programs). Regardless of what you may feel your financial situation may be, it is imperative that this application gets completed as most scholarships require it and people are often surprised with what comes back.

To complete the application, you will need a few things:
Student & Parent Social Security Numbers
Student & Parent email accounts (student's school emails should not be used)
An FSA ID account - can be accessed at www.fsaid.ed.gov
Student (if filed) & Parent 2019 tax returns

The application can be accessed at www.fafsa.gov. I am available Monday-Friday 8AM-4PM to assist in completing. Appointments can be scheduled with me at www.linktr.ee/martinsville2college. You can always let me know if an appointment outside of that time frame works best for you and I will try to accommodate best I can! I also would like to note that due to federal government regulations only a student's biological, adoptive, or step- parent is able to complete the application with their information. I understand that this may cause a barrier for some families, but rest assured I am here to help navigate that situation so please reach out as soon as possible!

I have teamed up with other advisers in the area to hold a Financial Aid Night where we will talk about primarily FAFSA but also other scholarship opportunities in the community. This event will take place Wednesday October 28th at 6PM over Zoom. More information will follow!

I am available through email cameron.stokes@martinsville.k12.va.us and by phone and both 276-403-5879 (office) & (276) ‪235-9307‬ (google voice). I understand that with COVID-restrictions this will be a task, but I am up for the challenge to make sure that our students are set up for success!
